Great hammer with a great balance. The only problem I have with it is the handle came loose on my 3rd or 4th swing. So I have to do some work to reset it but other than that it’s a great hammer for forging
This is the style of hammer used at the Heritage Forge where I took Blacksmithing I and II (3 days total). I bought these and got a chance to use them during a 6-day Forging Techniques class. I really like the Czech style hammer and it was easy to learn proper hammer technique to minimize tendon pain in my hammer arm. These hammers are excellent quality the price is great. Since I'm not overly great with a belt grinder, I'd have preferred them to come dressed, but I was able to do a decent job within a few minutes and start breaking them in. It was nice having the two hammer weights so that I could match the hammer with the size of stock we were using. The only negative that I can think of is that I wish it also came in a 2.5 pound version. Sometimes it seemed that 2 pounds was too light and 3 pounds too heavy... Or maybe it's in my head and I'm looking for an excuse to buy another tool!
