Forge, Fan & Fuel

Forge, Fan & Fuel

Blacksmith forge blowers, coal/coke forges, knife forges, forge parts, and more are available at Blacksmiths Depot. The firepots we sell are meticulously engineered to be among the best in the world. Firepots are designed to handle the heat during forging and cool down after going through the same process over and over without fatigue. The airflow must not create a torch-like flame directed at the sides but rather circulate the air or eventually, there will be holes in the sides. The clinker breaker and the inlet hole that the clinker breaker sets in must aid in this air distribution, while not getting stuck with clinkers. The clinker breaker should also be made of the same cast iron as the rest of the pot so that it will not burn up and will not get clinkers welded to it.

The coal forge blowers must have enough pressure so that clinkers are pushed to the side and out of the way, otherwise, you will be spending your forging time creating clinkers rather than forging. The old standard for a forge blower was that it should levitate the coal. Since you can buy a high cfm blower and still have only a little pressure cfms should not be the discerning part.

Air Gate vs. Variable Speed Control—Have you ever used a long but small gauge extension cord and realized how hot it gets? The longer the cord, the more voltage drop there is, therefore, more heat. A variable speed control drops the voltage as well causing......HEAT. If you want your forge blower to last longer don't cook it.

These are a few of the reasons why we've selected the products in this category. See all forge fans, coal/gas forge parts, and fuel for coal forges below.
